Safety Joint

PETROZHR’s Safety Joint can provide excellent service and longer life when properly maintained as follows: 1. Clamp in vise gripping on Box Section. 2. Unscrew Pin Section. 3. Remove Friction Ring Retainer Screw. 4. Slide off Friction Ring. 5. Thoroughly clean all parts. 6. Inspect for wear especially checking knurled faces on Friction Ring and rubber packers. Replace any worn parts. 7. Lubricate all interior surfaces with a good lubricating oil, especially on the coarse threads. Reassemble tool and paint exterior surfaces prior to storage.

APPLICATION

The Safety Joint allows the operator to disengage and re-engage the string whenever necessary. It can be located anywhere in the string and will transmit torque in either direction.The Safety Joint will disconnect only after following a specific mechanical procedure.

The Safety Joint consists of: Upper Pin Section,Lower Box Section,Friction Ring, two Friction Ring Retaining Screws and two Packing Rings. The coarse thread assures good makeup between box and pin section,resisting loosening or wedging during operation.The double packing on precision machined surfaces provides a positive fluid seal. I.D. of the joint will equal that of the top and bottom connections. Standard connections are provided unless otherwise specified. Special I.D. sizes can also be supplied to customer specifications. The knurled faces of the Friction Ring maintains a positive grip between the SafetyJoint box and pin sections.
