Drop-In Check Valves prevent return flow during a kick and are suitable for most drilling situations in which return flow through the drill string is a risk and normal operation requires the benefits of a full-bore sub. By preventing upward flow through the drill pipe, but allowing fluid to be pumped downward to circulate the well, the valves provide the driller with the means to control the drill pipe pressures when required, significantly improving and simplifying well control. When blowout is going to be happened,the thread connections of the kelly is screw out immediately and put the check valve is into the drill pipe and then pumped downward to the required place.Thus the blowout can be prevented.

Working Principle

1.Normal Operation: Allows drilling fluid to be injected forward to maintain circulation;

2.Emergency Response: During a kick, the kelly is detached, and the valve is dropped into the drill string. It is then pumped to the Landing Sub and locked in place. Reverse flow triggers the valve core to seal within <0.3 seconds, blocking high-pressure fluid from flowing upward.

 

Applications

1.Blowout Prevention: When downhole pressure abnormally surges, conventional float valves rely on reverse flow triggering (response time ≥0.5 seconds). In contrast, the Drop-In Valve uses a manual deployment + mechanical locking dual-safety mechanism, enabling deployment within 2 minutes after kick signs appear, increasing blockage success rates by 40%.

2.Backflow Protection: In cuttings-laden mud environments, it prevents drill cuttings from clogging bit nozzles or damaging MWD tools, especially in long horizontal drilling sections.
